else wondered why attics seem to need to be surveyed in the middle of
Summer?)

buildings and systems so heat directors might find some applications,
the most obvious being to replace any heat collectors out there.
In the building where I work I see the max deflector distance being
exceeded by about a foot in some places but because they don't
have heat collectors and they are small compartments I know the hot
upper layer will move not only horizontally but will build down too
fairly quickly and activate the sprinkler.
I'm going to tweak the design of heat directors (Kyle and Steve). I
envision (2) heavy metal triangles perpendicular to each other, with
the base length equal to the deflector distance, installed upside
down, the tip a few inches above the head. Using my custom made design
fires I'll try to pinpoint when 'the buoyancy exceeds the momentum and
the downward flow starts to curl back up' (Roland).
