Hi Tim,

The reason we decided to not publicize too much the PPA you're helping us to build is that it's for the development version only (i.e. 2.3dev for now). I think not too much people wants to live in our bleeding age (specially if they're using Spyder for his/her research). Besides we don't have the IPython manpower (for example) to always maintain dev in perfect shape.

It'd be great if you could also generate a deb for our stable branch, then we absolutely promote it everywhere.

Cheers,
Carlos

At the time, the PPA listed 2.2.1 (stable) for Ubuntu Raring. It
installed 2.3.0dev, which wasn't listed at all on the LaunchPad page.
Doesn't that seem a bit odd?
1) old Lauchpad bulders could not read the version from the original
author's source thus we always have to change version numbers manually.
==> since the spyder releases do not alway happen when I have time,
there may be a lag.
==> I do not care that much about it because as long as no new version
of Ubuntu is not released, the PPA package will always be more up to
date (also visible by the revno suffix)

2) Why do you not start helping in the PythonXY packaging for Ubuntu?

3) as stated, new packages are available:

enjoy.
