Like I said in my other post I don't think your menus are working the
same way as mine.
When I click on the blue 'System' menu I get all of it's sub selections
in brown and all of its sub menus in blue AND _they are all indented one
space._
If I then select 'Chart of accounts' which is a blue sub menu of
'System" it will expand showing it's contents and all of it's contents
will be indented two spaces (from root) or one additional space from
'System'

This contradicts what you wrote above. If _all_ items within a menu are
displayed in brown and indented, then other submenus should also be
indented
and in brown.
It's easy once you know it.
That's true for everything.
