how do I create a mysql db on xp localhost? I have always just used Access. I can't for the life of me figure out how to create a mysql database, and can't find any coherent explanation anywhere, which amazes me.
I have installed 5.0. It is running. Now what? I installed the mysql administrator. I open it and it says: "stored connection" - what does that mean??? server host - maybe localhost??? username - no idea??? etc. No idea what to do there to create a db. I search on the internet and everything is about using a webhost's panel to create it, or phpadmin, or a shell command which I am not familiar with though have tried typing into the "run" box but which always says "can't find "mysql"" or something. So how exactly do I create a mysql db??? After that, how to create the tables? And then how do I upload it to my website? I also want to convert an Access db to mysql and can't figure out how to do that either. I really have no idea about this area. When replying, imagine explaining this to your 4-year old daughter.
