This suits me very well.  I now don't get a rescan if I use BMF and can
play the playlist either way.

Just for information I don't see the additional links when using BMF to
play a playlist either - I'm not sure if that's what you meant by
treating them as 'volatile'.  Fine by me.

Wireless Xubuntu 15.10 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with
Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.  
Also a Touch with EDO, plus spare, unused.
