Thanks. I disabled the HLS plugin and now LMS doesn't recognise m3u8 extensions at all. So not only does "Disks and Folders" not recognise it (i.e. the same as for m3u), but "Drag and Drop" doesn't work either.
As I've said before the temporary handler for playlists isn't working (and therefore d'n'd of those file neither). But if you scanned that m3u8 file, it should work. That's why the question "does LMS work with m3u8 files?" isn't easy to answer...
