1453906635 @ Wed Jan 27 15:07:49 UTC 2016" both m3u and m3u8 now work in
"Disk and Folders".

Is there a difference in behaviour between this and using 'Music
Folders" (BMF) if the all tracks already exist?

BMF would give you full access to the metadata stored in the database. Eg. from the Now Playing playlist in the web UI you would get links to the artist, album etc. When played through "disks and folder", that information is not available, therefore no such links.

In this particular case of playlists it doesn't really make a difference. The code to play playlists from BMF was commented out with a remark that results could be un-predictable if a track wasn't in the database or similar. I'm pretty sure Alan had good reason to do so. Otherwise he would not have left the code in there (albeit disabled). Therefore I decided to treat playlists as "volatile" no matter what way we're browsing to them (BMF or DaF).
