I'm sure there must be an easier way, but I have clearly been labouring under either old information or misapprehension about how to do this. I thought that one was meant to copy the zip to /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins, and unzip it there, expecting LMS to copy it all to /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/Installed/Plugins and delete the version in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins. It seems I was wrong. The plugin stays installed in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins, which I believe is incorrect.
No, that's perfect. Check Settings/Information for the plugins folders. Pick the one ending in Plugins, BUT not the one in the cache. Unzip the plugin to that folder, so you end up with Plugins/WhateverPlugin/Plugin.pm and all the oder sub-folders and files.
