This might help you determine if your QNAP has a root user
configured...

http://www.matthiaseinig.de/2009/12/06/qnap-activate-root-account-on-nas/

I've checked my QNAP's passwd and shadow files and they show there is no
root user configured on my system and I have QLogitechMediaServer
V1.07.1 installed.

If using the above link indicates there is a root user on your system,
is it possible it was setup previously when you were trying out
something else on your QNAP?

The problem with official support is there is an automatic tendency to
insist on upgrading and/or blaming a third party for issues (been there
done that! :roll eyes:). In this case it looks like QNAP support could
be homing in on the issue (root user) but wrongly blaming the
"unofficial" install of QLogitechMediaServer.
