Just checked on my Qnap ts-453a, and yes there is a root user. But it deactivated, i can not use it.
I would suggested do as they ask, make a backup from you're Cache en prefs directory from the SlimServer directory. Put them some where save, like in the download share. Then remove QLogitechMediaServer, and do a reboot of the system. And then contact them again, when the problem still occurs. The downside is, as long as they are trying to sort it out. You can not use QLogichMediaServer. But very strange reaction of there side, just because there is a QPKG installed, which does not comes from there AppCenter.
