Radio streams that can eb played natively by Sb3 such as MP3 and WAM are played directly by the player and do not go through LMS unless proxying has been enabled.
If radio streams are transcoded (e.g. AAC) use a plaugin then LMS is oinvolved. Radio Streams are infinite but also only have a short amount of data buffered so network connection is "active" all the time whereas album files tend to be short and often can be buffered entirely in the player so "active" network connection for the file is short - a new GET is required for each file. The issue could be network hardware related - perhaps a bad connection.
