Happy to continue on a more friendly mode. I don't think anybody (starting with me) implied you might be an idiot who doesn't understand what he does. In fact, your other posts regarding using different Perl versions clearly show that you know well what you're talking about. So maybe this special setup had changes or different rules, maybe the packager was convinced that PCM sounds better than flac. And BTW, I agree there is no need to transcode flac as all SB's (including software players) support it natively. But, for example, we had recently to force transcoding to lower flac compression rate for IP3K players (any before player Radio & Touch). Another example is that Classic, Duet, Boom only support 48kHz while Transporter/Radio/Touch support 96kHz (although I think the radio reports that to LMS and in fact punctures, I'm not sure). So LMS will downsample in that case, despite it's flac. LMS 7.9 on Pi 3B+ & Odroid-C2 - *SqueezeAMP!*, 5xRadio, 3xBoom, 4xDuet, 1xTouch, 1 SB3.
