and even if transcoding is taking place - assuming for the same reason (e.g. down sampling) there will be no difference either as the same utlities are being used with the same settings. All other things being the same, the only probable changes between 7.9.* and 8.* is due to the Gain settings and volume levels not being set the same in the 7.9.* and 8.* - maybe lost in install of new version. Going in circles.
