Hi Michael,
Thanks a lot. I'm still having to sort out some issues on the Home Automation Side. But will hopefully soon get to it. Since I have the chance, maybe you allow me to raise a Point/Suggestion I'm personally very interested in, and I'm sure a lot of Users of LMS that are growing older, might as well expirience in the future? I'm a long term user of LMS and some Logitech Equipment (2 Duets, 5 Receivers, 2 Touch, 2 Radios, 1 Boom) that are now partially retired and replaced by PiCore Players. I'm suffering from a progressive loss of Eysight eventually leading to Blindness. At the time I had more and more difficulty operating the different Players by the use of the Remotes, since You had to consult the Screen and then Press the Buttons to Enter a Menu and select the next Step. As well trying to operate it in the Dark (or being Blind) therefore is almost impossible with the exception of Devices where You could Store certain Functions to Buttons (Radio or the Touch with Buttons on the Remote) As well I noticed at the time that more and more Lights were on for Days since I didn't notice them anymore under certain Lighting situations. Being an Engineer in Telecoms, I then searched for possibilities to switch those out automatically and stumbled across FHEM. I loaded that on my FritzBox and started out like that. In the meantime I aquired some really very basic Programming skills and together with the Squeezebox Modules on FHEM. I have now managed to implement controlling the Players by the use of RF Remotes from Homematic with 8 Buttons that I've managed to assign so far 4 Functions per Button depending on the length of pressing it. So I managed to implement a remote control that I can use without the need to see, although It might only be prettty basic: - Basic Functions powering on/off, Volume, Play, Stop, Next, Previous etc. - Assigning favorite Stations, Playlists, Random Play etc. fixed to a Button - Cycling through Favorites (Radio Stations) - Cycling through stored Playlists and the Tracks backwards and forwards - On changing Playlists or Stations they are now announced on the players by Voice - upon short Press of an "Info" Button I will receive an Email and a Push Message of the Artist, The Title and if Available the Station or Playlist. - Medium Long pressing the "Info" announces the same Information via Voice. - I started to announce messages from the Home Automation As a next step I intend now as well to implement some sort of controlling Playing Podcasts I subscribed to. In Short, People not seing well, are not really able anymore to use their beloved LMS and Multiroom Environment except maybe through the use of their Handys and Remote Control Apps maybe supporting even Voice Control. It would be absolutely marvelous if the LMS Environment some Time might be open to be used by Blind or visually Impaired People for Instance by the use of some text to speach and vice versa possibilities, RF Remotes with assignable Functions and so on. At best even as a local standalone Instance. Maybe it would even be possible to make the CLI for laymen a bit easier and more accessible/understandable.
