This thread has motivated me to change this morning my openwrt routers from 802.11r fast transition AP mode to 802.11s mesh mode.. And it actually seems to solve phone controller apps problems present with 802.11r :) not sure how smart basic mesh is so will need to test speeds. Apparently batman mesh is better but not sure how to go about it.
