The current log does not include the log entries during the time that I
was trying to update to LMS8.2.1/8.3. When I restore my backup, to get
my running LMS8.2.0 version back, I am restoring my OS partition and my
Programs partition that were backed up before I tried the LMS 8.2.1/8.3
updates; my OS and Programs partitions are where the LMS files are
located.

Oh, you didn't just re-install an old LMS, but completely restore your system? Well, that's one way to do it... But really: this also won't tell you whether LMS was the culprit, as all other parameters would be reset, too, including Windows updates etc.

If you're successfully running LMS 8.2 then I see no reason why you would face the issues you mentioned with a more recent version. Most likely there was an intermittent issue with your network causing the failures.
