As you say, W11 will probably be slower because of increased
size/features. If I was not so old and with developing cognitive
problems I would probably try using Linux again. Over the years I have
fooled with 3-4 different flavors of Linux, the last time was about a
year ago, but it was never really better than Windows at the times that
I tried. But now Linux is looking like it is a good replacement for
Windows.

BTW, on the MSE/LMS problem. I have found that the solution to my
problems with LMS8.2.1/8.3 was not fixed by excluding the LMS process
from MSE. I decided to try restoring my system back to the LMS8.2.0
version. I then updated the MSE virus definitions to the most recent
updates, without excluding the LMS process and upgraded LMS to 8.3.
LMS8.3 is working fine with no problems! In reading about MSE I found
that it only downloads a minimal number of virus definitions to the
computer and, if it uses its heuristics capability and thinks something
might be a virus, then it contacts Microsoft "Spynet" to check for other
known viruses. But if the current virus definitions are outdated, by how
much I do not know, then it is cuts off contact with the internet for
the suspected virus until the virus definitions are updated again. At
least that is how I understand it. And, while MSE is no longer updated,
the virus definition updates will still be available until 2023. I am
thinking of going back to Avast or Bitdefender because of the "problems"
with MSE.

Thanks for all of the info,
