My understanding from OP post is that the vendors of high end players are claiming that network traffic affects SQ. So the players will download a playlist (e.g. multiple large flac files) from wherever (e.g. own files, Tidal etc) into the player's secondary storage (e.g. SSD), then the player "disconnects" from the network (can't have any network traffic) and plays the audio from the SSD.
