I'm going to make a suggestion that may do absolutely nothing, but who
knows, it may help. What you described (finding where you left off after
unexplained stoppage) is exactly what I and others experienced with
Podcasts.

@Phillipe44 wrote the "reliable" plug in that became a feature in LMS
(after 8.2? 8.1?). Go to settings, advanced tab, network pulldown, and
choose "persistent" mode for HTTS streaming. Read the note on the "i"
for more information.

Like I said it can't hurt and it might help other https streaming
issues

PS - as @slarti mentioned, try the material apk for android, and through
a browser for everything else (PC, i devices). I have squeeze cntrl, and
like it, but use material apk 90% of the time
