Ravinghill may not be a popular fellow around here, but I'm going to
have to agree with him. When I'm not loving my squeezebox, I seriously
want to smash the thing. Right now I'm in smash mode. We haven't been
able to listen to streaming music for two days now. Either "can't
connect to server" or it streams for several seconds and then displays
"can't connect". The streams we are attempting, Boot Liquor and Kiwi
FM, play fine on our PC and netbook. This is about the third time in
two years we've lost SN for more than a day, and the fact that there's
not an inbuilt FM tuner to take up the slack makes it even worse.

We are in New Zealand, running our SBB on a wired 6Mb+ ADSL/2
connection.

I can totally sympathise with other posters' frustration at the
suggestions to run your own music server as this is exactly what we
were avoiding when we bought the box in the first place. I certainly
don't wish to run upstairs to fire up a PC to run my SBB in the
kitchen, and the thought of paying to run an appliance 24/7 is absurd.
As we bought our Boom early on we paid a LOT for it, especially since in
NZ we pay a premium on most goods. The Boom cost me well over a weeks'
wages.

The other thing that drives me absolutely MAD about the Boom is the
inability of the volume control to work in real time. Volume controls
have worked perfectly for over a hundred years, yet somehow the
developers have made this one respond with random lag and by random
amounts. WTF?

For the most part (volume excluded) ours works well, with sessions
every few weeks where dropouts make us shut it off, and times like now
when something on SB's end is making it impossible for us to listen to
a stream that is perfectly available on any other device. Is it
acceptable for a "radio" to cost 10X and work 98% of the time when you
can buy a radio that costs X and works 100%?

By the way, the first time we lost SN for two days, we emailed tech
support and got a reply SEVEN WEEKS LATER.
