Can't help you with the various mysb.com connection problems because I
don't experience them. I run my own server (SBS), but it doesn't have
to be on 24/7 because with the ServerPowerControl plugin the server
automatically goes into S3 suspend after 30 minutes of inactivity, and
wakes up again via wake-on-LAN when I need it again.

Anyway, the volume control _does_ work in real time -- you just have to
use the correct volume control. Use the volume down/up rocker controls
and the volume responds instantly. After you touch a volume up/down
button the big knob also switches over to volume. The reason the knob
doesn't act instantly as a volume control is because it is also
essential for menu navigation, as you've no doubt noticed. If you want
it switch to volume control more quickly then shorten the interval for
having your screensaver kick in. Search the forums for "grandma mode"
for more details.
