The major issue here is that the Radio falls between the twin design
stools of the true "slim" devices which NEED an SBS (SB1/2/3/TP) and
the true standalone devices like the Touch which can run its own
internal SBS, thus eliminating the round-trip issue for volume, alarms
and anything else...

IMO the dependency on SBN is a mistake. It should be an entirely
optional feature, even for those not running an external SBS.

What we need is the nextgen Radio/Boom that can run TinySC internally
and avoid SBN where necessary for radio+alarm functionality.

Putting a hardware (analogue) vol control in the devices messes up the
multi-room sync model.
