In my opinion, lossless streaming is a bit pointless. So I don't think
squeezebox users need to be jealous.

It can be useful to obtain and store audio losslessly at home. Among
other things, it allows you to encode to lossy (for your smartphone,
portable players etc.) without being subject to generation loss. But for
streaming, I don't see the advantage of lossless over sufficiently
high-bitrate lossy (which is going to be transparent). The stream is
DRMed anyway so you don't have the option to transcode. Furthermore, for
internet streaming, lossy has certain other advantages (e.g., low
bandwidth requirements; availability of low-latency codecs).
