Wow, this was really, really helpful. I was able to reproduce easily, and identify the problem. And I was wrong: this issue wasn't there from the beginning, but only since we had to introduce some improved encryption on Spotify's request - 4.5 years ago...
I have synced Spotify streaming almost working. But only ever after a second try. Don't know yet how to fix this properly. But I'm close, thanks to your detailed report, dydx.
