Correct. People, who live in certain mind frame, may not be able to see
outside things and understand unless they have real requirement of
understanding. Such people caught by themselves (egoism).People should
understand themselves, and then they can understand Buddhism. Buddhism is
understanding about yourself.

But it is good to make understood people if they are going in wrong way. But
there should not be any conflict in the process.
