Dear Gayathri,
I respect your views. But I must tell you that while we practice Buddhism as
Buddhists, we must also be aware what other religions are up to and their
principles, agendas etc. We Buddhists must never think that all other
religions are so peaceful like Buddhism and they also have the same
principles like ours'. They have firm agenda to wipe out other religions and
their principles and practices have been formulated accordingly. This is not
insulting other religions, this about protecting our own religion. You do
not know what danger and threat that other religions are posing you (
Buddhism), so how can you ever protect your own Buddhism. If you have
decided that you will never want to think about a subject of "protecting
Buddhism", then it is a different matter. Even if you think you
would personally be a good Buddhist and no matter what plans
other religions have to destroy Buddhism, I do not think you are practicing
true Buddhism. Buddha has firmly told that his teachings must be protected
and even on his death bed, he has discussed and thought about this subject.
So, I do not think a good Buddhist can just ignore the danger and threats
coming from other religions to destroy Buddhism.
Have you ever given any thoughts as to how most of our
large Buddhist countries with large Buddhist populations in the Asia region
lost forever??? We have not only lost our Buddhist lands, but we also have
lost the Buddhist devotees as well in those countries, making the Buddhism
just a tiny religion in this world. And have you ever thought or knew that
this situation, which has been created by the other religions have been
continuing and in the near future, the Buddhism will become a word in the
history books. What happened to our Buddhist countries - Afghanistan,
Pakistan and the area where lord Buddha lived what we call Bangladesh
today?? What happened to Buddhist Indonesia and Malysia. What happened to
Buddhist Philippine, what is happening in Southern region of
Thailand today??

I wonder whether at least you knew those countries were our golden Buddhist
countries. This is exactly where Buddhists have gone wrong. They never
bothered about the threats and dangers of other religions. They just thought
that a good Buddhist is somebody who only practice "pansil" and live up to
"pansil", they failed to understand that protecting Buddhism is also
something they must think of as a good Buddhist. Just because this subject
"protecting Buddhism" is not included as the sixth verse of the "Pansil" to
call it "Sasil", Buddhists must never continue with their habitual mistake
of ignoring the threats posed by other religions. Buddha never wanted his
followers to ignore this subject and just keep a blind eye while one by one
of our Buddhist countries fallen victim of the agenda of other religions. If
we do not seriously understand the seriousness of this issue, soon the
Buddhism will lose Buddhist Sri Lanka as well. You cannot challenge
my righteous views on this serous matter. Already we have lost large parts
of our own country and not a single Buddhist will be allowed to live in
those areas. Yet, we are living like "Kasaya Beepu Goluwo" ( or are we like
the "Crabs in the pot", waiting to be exterminated?).
And again, please do not jump in to a wrong assessment, by insisting that we
must be serious about this subject, I am not advocating violence or any kind
of off the track suggestions, a Buddhist does not have to
follow violent principles of other religions to protect Buddhism. But total
awareness of the danger and the nature of tactics used by other religions,
their agenda against Buddhism etc. will be the first step forward in the
subject of protecting our beloved religion. As it is, we are not even closer
to this "first step".
