BEWARE- READ THE FOLLOWING FROM N.Y TIMES:

Airport Security Alert for Toys With Remotes

WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 - Citing "credible specific information" about
terror tactics, Transportation Security Administration officers
nationwide on Monday stepped up their scrutiny of passengers carrying
remote-control toys aboard airplanes.

The move was not motivated by a specific terror plot, said Kip
Hawley, the assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland
Security in charge of aviation security. But there is concern both in
the United States and internationally that common remote-control toys
could be used to detonate a bomb as part of a terror plot.

The aviation authorities decided against banning the devices in
carry-on bags. But people carrying remote-control toys - including
children - could be subject to a more intense search, in which the
passenger is patted down and the baggage is checked by hand,
officials said.

Now, if we told the TSA inspector: "hey they are not toys, they are
high quality museum pieces" do you think they would listen?

To Chris-- Wouldn't the Live steam HO Hornby with it's huge
transformer and controller confuse them!!? We would be in the
detention room for a month before they figured anything out!

I have suffered needlessly in the loving inquisitive hands of TSA
and I get patted down so much (bionic knees) that I almost got
excited once! When the agent looked down the front of my pants i
told him there was nothing bionic down there so he retorted that if
there was he would like to know where I got it! Some do have a sense
of humor- thank the Lord of Steam. (is that Clark Lord?) BTW, now I
ask for a female "patter down" No luck yet - guess I'll have to cross
dress to get a female.

In closing, I did steam the HO Flying Scotsman the other day- almost
30 mins none stop. It really is amazing, to boot, I discovered that
in addition to the boiler in the tender, it has a super heater before
the steam enters the cylinders!!

We had 138 souls visit our garden railway two weeks ago, part of a
fund raiser for the Timber Heritage Association. Six local railways
opened for the event. Two club members, Larry Buerer and Carl
Mueller came and steamed their N.G stuff while I steamed the Schools
and the Duchess. What an event- no accidents either! We even had two
visitors from the Medford OR club. Unfortunately the Queen couldn't
make it.

  Geoff..
