Regardless of whether or not "we" think it's a good idea, users are starting to demand the feature, especially because it's now present in almost every mainstream messaging app.
At some point we will probably implement it because it's a relatively simple feature with a lot of demand. When that time comes, I'd like other apps to be able to interoperate with us.
