I would like to say that you are right about the IDE being cheaper. (here it comes) But the difference is not that bad. I found three places on pricewatch.com that has 38G SCSI II fast and wide for $89. For me I felt the speed I get from that and a $40 FORMAC scsi II PCI card was worth it. In a fair comparison, (that is one of similar speed) you would have to get a comparably priced upgraded IDE-PCI card to take advantage of the newer, faster IDE drives. So the card was a wash for me. The speed difference I experienced from that upgrade was twice again as good as the difference I experienced putting a G3 card in. It turned out that my sm was old and slow disk bound. So I too reccomend that you upgrade your drive, but only if you go for the faster ones. That means getting a new PCI interface, whichever way you go; IDE or SCSI _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
