If you are ADDING a drive to your existing system, you need a 50 pin SCSI drive unless you plant to substitute the drive for the Max's CD-ROM which happens to be IDE connected.
But if you are REPLACING your current drive, you need an IDE drive. FYI: When you replace the drive, turn off your computer and disconnet power source. Then disconnect the CD-Rom TEMPORARILY and plug in your new drive in its place. Just sit the new drive on top of your unit or along side it without putting the outside case back on. Start up your computer. Format the new drive using Disk Tools, then copy your entire old hard drive onto the new hard drive - it will take a couple of hours. Good luck. nan -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
