Hi Phil
You don't have to have an IDE, I am running a 1Gb SCSI drive with Sys files
and other
apps on it, ( I did ths by removing the cable for the ext SCSI port, and
replacing it with
a ribbon that has 2 connectors on it) also on the SCSI bus is a SCSI CDrom
salvaged
from a scrapped wintel box.
This gives me two IDE sockets for the 40Gb drives, (one is a backup for the
other)

PS I did it this way as that was what cost me the least, if I had some huge
cheap (free)
SCSI drives they would have all gone on the one Bus, just need to make up a
cable.
