Well... I can't find an International English patch let alone a French one. If you are
happy with a US English install (and if it will work), that should be OK I guess.

Nah, the problem is that the Mac OS 9.2 installers will look at the StarMax, pull a
face and refuse to install. There is a program that you can use to fake the machine's
indentity, but it seems that you actually need to patch up the operating system in
various places to make it run correctly on a StarMax. And the patchers only work on
the 9.2.1/9.2.2 updaters from Apple, not from an install CD>If you know b

I don't think 9.2.1/9.2.2 work on anything less than a G3 (the requirement for X) but
I don't know for sure.

I didn't have the easiest of times with ntl either - their dial-up CD contained
FreePPP that didn't want to stay connected, and I had to manually remove all that and
go back to Remote Access. And then their cable CD was worse, opening a critical Web
page in BBEdit instead of a browser, because it relied on Apple Browser Launcher which
was removed from Mac OS 9 (when they should have, I think, performed a file:// URL
launch). And it messed up other stuff that I was able to sort out, but most people
would have been screwed... Though they've always offered a good Internet service, just
awful install CDs for Macs.
