Hi David,

Many thanks for your input here, on this matter.

I've come back from the store, a little confused. The guy at the store asked if my machine has an IDE controller that can reach to, or get past the 127 GB barrier?

Apparently, the IDE controller in my machine needs to be capable of 'memory addressing' beyond the 127 GB barrier?

I'm not entirely certain what this means, but as far as I can tell, the IDE controller needs to get beyond the 32 GB barrier, and others in between, in order to be able to address the full 120 GB on this disk.

How does one confirm this? I thought this sort of information was on the Motorola web site; however I can't find it now. Do you know of a web page detailing this sort of information?

Eagerly anticipating your reply on this.

Cheers,

Bill Taylor

Each of the internal IDE buses can support only 1 drive and address up to 128 GB on a disk.

Hi Everyone,

I need to upgrade the HD in my Starmax 3000/160, and am wondering if anyone knows what the largest capacity of HD I can install in this machine?

I presently have a 6 gig internal, and 6 gig SCSI external configured for it. I'm hoping to go to at least a 40 gig drive, but would prefer to max it out to the largest HD this machine can take.

Thanks in advance,

Bill
