My name is Anthony Marbella. I graduated from Indiana
University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with a Bachelor of
Fine Arts degree. I double majored in Sculpture and
Graphic Design, and minored in drawing. I have always
held a love for stone as a material, but it wasn't until
I took a Sculpture class in college that I began to
carve it. I've been carving for about 6 years now, but I
still haven't sold any work.
I'm currently employed as a graphic designer for an
adhesive tape company called LePage's and this takes up
most of my time. However, if I knew that I could make a
living by carving stone I would quit this job in a
second. My Sculpture is mostly based on the human form
and abstractions and/or fragments of it. I feel a deep
connection to traditional sculpture such as the works of
Michelangelo, Rodin, Brancusi, and Noguchi.
Speaking of Noguchi, I'm reminded that on the homepage
for www.learningstone.net, Isamu Noguchi was
accidentally misspelled. I think the spelling was Isamo,
when it should be Isamu. Nevertheless I was immediately
impressed by a website that even mentions Isamu Noguchi
and goes as far as to include one of his masterful
quotes. It is my humble opinion that Isamu Noguchi is
the single greatest Sculptor ever produced by the United
States. I would recommend to anyone that is interested
in stone working to visit the Isamu Noguchi Museum in
Long Island City, New York. That place is incredibly
serene and meditative, as well as inspiring.
I gotta go now because my lunch break is over as I'm

computer at home.
