I work with marble and I have reduced my file inventory
by using a carbide riffler file. It has concave and
convex surfaces on both ends and does a fine job on
marble. They make diamond files too, but be cautious
about how they bond the diamond -- some of files are not
very durable. Green carborundum stone -- the kind you
use on sharpening wheels -- can be broken up and you can
use the pieces to shape stone -- this is 60 or 80 grit.
