Dear Sirs:
I believe there is a great misunderstanding about
soapstone. When it is being carved and sanded, you do
get a very fine powder, but it is nothing a mask won't
take care of.
Soapstone (Talc) is in your everyday items, such as
toothpaste, chewing gum, baby powder, and many others.
You may check the ingredients list on the cited items
and confirm my statement. If it was a hazardous material
I am sure that big companies like Johson & Johnson would
not be using it.
Furthermore , specially brazilian soapstone, holds
detail very well, has unique color patterns, it is very
soft and consistent, therefore the preferred
carvingstone of many people such as the Inuit from
northern Canada.
Many people say, if you haven't tried soapstone
(specially brazilian) you have not tried the best.
