I understand the need for safety equipment. As a motorcyclist family (when
we still rode) we always wore our gear, and on the very few occasions we
really needed it -- it was there and saved our hides.
But I have some issues, for instance fogging with eye protection, that keep
plaguing me no matter what the ambient air temp. Over this past year both
in hot summer weather and recently in the cold, after I work long enough to
get hot, my safetey eyewear and regular eyeglasses fog up to the point
where I can barely see the stone. I used the flip-down face-shield as well,
and it's not much better (and this is while wearing a mask).
I take breaks, hold the glasses up to the fan to defog, and get going
again, but they fog up pretty fast right away. Do I just need to get a
higher-quality mask (i.e. respirator) to take care of the leaking breath?
And if so, does anyone have any exact, specific make/model recommendations
they have used with success/comfort? I'm only carving alabaster and
limestone, not too terribly dangerous. I'm currently using surgery-grade
disposable masks, the thicker kind, not thin paper. But there's still the
foamy material around the nose that allows some warm breath to leak out
into my glasses, safety goggles, or faceshield.
Any advice about this would be greatly appreciated.
