Hello all, With the execllent help from Nigel and David they traced down the big problem to a faulty 'core' swith port. According to my network guys everything was 'ok' but with all the facts provided here we could problem solve easier. After switching to a new switch located locally and managed locally with new cables the ~13hours newfs problem disapered. So a HW failure was partly responsable for my errors.
I still have problems accessing the disks, meaning i have slow access time into the system. If i make a copy (scp of a 2gb tar file) from one system to another system it's very slow, the scp is quite often stalled and I get several errors in my Overland log. I am running snoop now to see if i can trace something. I will continue to work on this during the day and keep posting messages on my progress. As to use Linux i am sad to say that i can not. This is at the moment taking up a lot of my time as it is so i prefer to work with my Solaris systems. Maybe later though if nothing helps. This is from my Overland doing a scp: Feb 23 08:50:02.329 23277 ERROR:Bad "Opcode": Got 2 expected 5.
