Hello
I buy HBA type QLA2342 from HDS, in order to connect my solaris8
\10 servers to HDS storage type AMS500.
The QLA2342 came with driver qla(NOT qlc) because the firmware in
the QLA2342 card is from HDS (not from SUN).
As I understand the qla driver NOT working with the Traffic
manager because the driver is not a SUN driver(qlc).
Shay, you can use as non-Sun QLA2342 card with the qlc driver.
Having Sun firmware on the card is not a requirement. Also, yes,
you must use the qlc driver to get traffic manager capabilities.
I run about 20 non-Sun QLA2342 and QLE2462 cards here with the
Solaris 10 qlc driver and mpxio just fine, and have been for over
two years now.
Shay mentions he runs these in an HDS environment. I would caution
to make sure that the proposed environment is certified by HDS.
Just because it works, doesn't mean that it's certified and he'd
get support from HDS. In our environment, we have Sun branded
QLE2460's certified with an HDS AMS1000 with the Leadville drivers
on Solaris 10 Update 1. I believe Update 2 just barely got
certified, so we may be upgrading soon, but I haven't made that
decision yet. We run these on our X4600 servers.
Just throwing it out as a cautionary statement, having worked with
HDS equipment for many years now...
Forgot to mention we also use Veritas Storage Foundation 4.1 (VM and
FS) for Solaris x64 along with DMP for our multipathing.
