the first question you should answer is:
do you have some shared disk already? (i.e a disk storage that can be
detected by the OS, from both nodes)?
if you have such storage on a SAN, then try QFS (eval is downloadable
on sun.com) it's simple to install.
For SC you need, besides the shared disk, the interconnect (2 private
networks--vlan)

so what hardware have you already got?

Thanks for the response!

I understand that SC doesn't provide direct IO. How bad of a
performance hit is this going to be? The underlying question here is
whether we can start with plain SC and then _upgrade_ to Shared-QFS
when we need it.

Secondly, I believe CommuniGate will run on top of SC since it deals
with concurrency internally. I'd love to know this for sure though.
