I'm afraid I don't quite get your questions here.
Are the hba connected to target directly in your configurations? It
would be very helpful to understand the situation if you provide more
information, i.e. topology, physical connection, storage information etc.

point-to-point connection in a switched fabric.
Or are the "Type" (in this case) there for astetic purposes..
