Hi Louwtjie,

According to FC-PH (Fibre Channel Physical & Signaling Interface REV 4.3, available at ftp://ftp.t11.org/t11/member/fc/ph/fcph_43.pdf): 3.1.63. F_Port: The Link_Control_Facility within the Fabric which attaches to an N_Port through a link. An F_Port is addressable by the N_Port attached to it, with a common well-known address identifier (hex FFFFFE). The type field in fcinfo output refers to the type of a local hba port, so either in a fabric (F_Port point-to-point) topology or an N_Port point-to-point topology, it's N_Port.

Regards,
Zhong

Hi Louwtjie & Robert,

I'm afraid I don't quite get your questions here.
Are the hba connected to target directly in your configurations? It
would be very helpful to understand the situation if you provide more
information, i.e. topology, physical connection, storage information etc.

My comment follows Roberts concerning the first posters question:

"On 1/26/07 it was said that Leadville did not support Point to Point
on the QLogic 4gig HBA, and to force the HBA into Loop mode. Are there
any plans to support Point to Point, if so when."

The answer given was:

"Hi Doug,

There is an open bug on this issue:

http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6547693

It is something we are currently investigating.

I can't provide any dates at this point. You may want to keep an eye
on that bug.

David"

However, I'm confused since looking at a fcinfo output, I notice:

        Manufacturer: QLogic Corp.
        Model: QLE2462
        Firmware Version: 4.0.27
        FCode/BIOS Version: N/A
        Type: N-port
        State: online

N-port is a point device in a point-to-point fabric ... right ? This
being the leadville driver, how does the first question and bug relate
to each other?

Must the N_port be F_port ? (for a point device in a switched fabric)

Setup is:
V490, QLA2462, Brocade, 3510

I'm probably confused, stupid or both...
