In kmdb I stepped through the sd`_init and can confirm that reboot happened in mpt`mpt_scsi_config_all somewhere in the middle after mpt_scsi_probe. I could provide you more information, like print some mpt structures, etc if you'd like. I think you should be able to reproduce problem in VMWare 5.x as stated above. I can confirm that problem does not exists in VMWare 6.x.
Hi Erast, If you could at least provide us with the kernel msgbuf, the output from "::prtconf -v" and the stack trace from kmdb that would help us to get started.
