Success, of sorts.
First of all - thanks to all who have helped

No zoning on the McData4400 switch. the v490 sees the san - all is good! The
v210 (actually two of them) do not see the SAN in cfgadm. But from the switch,
I can see WWN for everybody physically connected. Conclusion, hw is good.
Lots of futzing trying to figure out why the v490 sees the SAN, but not the
v210s?

Create zone in McData with v490 and v210 and SAN - 490 is happy as before. the
WWN for the v490 shows up in cfgadm on v210, but not SAN.

Remove that zone, create two zones, one with v490 and SAN; second with v210 and
SAN (same WWN of SAN for each). Now v490 and v210 each see the LUNs in SAN.
What I was looking for, except I was trying to avoid a proliferation of zones
across my fabric.
