What version of XP are you using? specifically is it a 64 or 32 bit
version? Do you have any other clients available to try?
Could you also check this registry for me?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/LSA/lmcompatibilitylevel

I'm not that familiar with NFS security infrastructure, so I cannot
comment on this, but there's no plan to provide unauthenticated CIFS
access at this point.
