Actually you can have the two HBA ports on each host see all the storage ports. It's just if you loose a storage port connection, that is your only link to those LUNs. If you loose a HBA port, then all I/O goes over the other port. You can balance the active LUN paths across the two HBAs.
I'll have to wait till this afternoon to setup an Xraid with one of my hosts and do a quick test. Also, I noticed that the Xraid is on Sun's HCL. Have you attempted to open a support case to see if there is a way to get MPXIO working?
