Have you had any joy with verbose boot messages
or going into the kernel debugger & getting a stack trace.

By the way, what speed is the PCI-X bus running at?
I know PCI-X can run at various speeds, depending exactly
what revision of the specification is supported.

We have had a problem booting a server which turned
out to be there was a mismatch between the speed of a
multiport network card and the bus. One was 100 MHz &
the other 133MHz, but I cannot remember which way around.
When you try the Marvell card in the PCI bus it will
drop down to the standard 33MHz.
