You could also try running the 'iscsisnoop.d' script on the Solaris box, which may give a clue to what is going wrong:
http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/DTrace_Topics_iSCSI This is a DTrace script which shows what iscsi target events are happening, so interesting if it shows anything unusual at the point of failure.
