OK -- I have booted from the 2008.11 release Live image. It booted up just fine, but doesn't see the 1.5TB drive at all. Under Solaris 10 10/08, the drive will show up and I can use space under 1TB, but with OpenSolaris 2008.11 the drive fails to register at all.
When I run format, it just says: Searching for disks...done No disks found! Syslog shows the following from when the system booted, so it looks like the system could see the drive: Dec 22 20:06:10 opensolaris genunix: [ID 640982 kern.info] IDE device at targ 0, lun 0 lastlun 0x0 Dec 22 20:06:10 opensolaris genunix: [ID 846691 kern.info] model ST31500341AS Dec 22 20:06:10 opensolaris genunix: [ID 479077 kern.info] ATA/ATAPI-8 supported, majver 0x1f0 minver 0x29 Dec 22 20:06:10 opensolaris npe: [ID 236367 kern.info] PCI Express-device: i...@0, ata0 Dec 22 20:06:10 opensolaris genunix: [ID 936769 kern.info] ata0 is /p...@0,0/pci-...@f/i...@0 Dec 22 20:06:10 opensolaris genunix: [ID 773945 kern.info] UltraDMA mode 6 selected Dec 22 20:06:10 opensolaris gda: [ID 243001 kern.info] Disk0: <Vendor 'Gen-ATA ' Product 'ST31500341AS '> If I go into the /devices directory and try to find the actual block and character devices, the tree stops at: /devices/p...@0,0/pci-...@f/i...@0 ...meaning that there are no directories below this point: # ls -lR /devices/p...@0,0/pci-...@f .: total 1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root sys 512 Dec 22 20:06 i...@0 crw------- 1 root sys 258, 0 Dec 22 20:09 i...@0:control ./i...@0: total 0 Any ideas here? I would have at least expected the drive to show up as it does in 10/08 -- even if I couldn't use the whole thing.
