Hi Peter,

I concur with you as well in most cases the iSCSI port provider should be just
another method of connecting to the STMF engine. And the target connection
should normally be static.

The reason I submitted the RFE was to allow for controlled reconfiguration of
target groups when using iSCSI as a protocol because it is technically
achievable without significant effort or pain. This is not the case when using
an FC target it’s much more involved to allow such reconfiguration events.

I think that in this case proof of concept that is tabled here needs to allow
for a more dynamic iSCSI target assignment.

This is still achievable with the current STMF but will require a little more
up front planning. The target groups will need to be created ahead of the usage
requirement.
In other words create target groups 2 to lets say 256 and leave them for future
use.

This allows the iSCSI target to be created directly on the desired target group
without the requirement to cycle the STMF service.

Regards,

Mike
